C'est Moi Ce Soir was founded three years ago in Dorset, United Kingdom by artists Christopher Green and Gary Barber. Since 2005 C'est Moi Ce Soir exhibited work internationally as part of both group and solo shows in the UK, Canada, Japan, and South America, as well as self-publishing limited edition books, and producing illustrations for a variety of international clients/publications.
After three years of work, C'est Moi Ce Soir is taking a break. Gary Barber is now working with music, and Christopher Green is making solo works.

H: First of all, can you please introduce yourself to the Le Toy audience?
C’est Moi Ce Soir is artists Christopher Green and Gary Barber. We live and work in South London and exhibit work occasionally on an international level.

How long have you been illustrating, how´d you get into it?
Together, since around 2004.

How would you define your style?
Collage, mixed media.

What do you think are the most important things to remember when doing an illustration?
If for a client, try to bend the brief as much as possible in ones own favour.

Do you get images in your head or do you let the work sort of find its' way by itself?
When we are together we talk a lot of rubbish to one another, and the pictures follow shortly.

What is your favorite material to work on ?
Paper

What do you believe makes your work different?
There is only one C'est Moi Ce Soir

What audience are you trying to reach with your art?
We don't really consider the audience.

What's the best part about being an artist? What's the worst part?
Best: Time Worst: Living on the poverty line.

What would be your absolute ultimate dream design project?
One that means we never have to produce commercial work ever again. But if that doesn't materialize we'd probably settle for something ethical, maybe designing winter garments for cats and horses.

What´s getting you all excited at the moment?
Music, travelling, curating, exhibiting, moving studios.

Tell us about your plans for the next months, what will you be up to?
Staying alive.

C’est Moi Ce Soir son Christopher Green y Gary Barber. Vivimos y trabajamos en el sur de Londres y, de vez en cuando, exponemos nuestro trabajo a un nivel internacional.

¿Cuánto tiempo lleváis ilustrando?
Juntos, desde el 2004.

¿Cómo definiríais vuestro estilo?
Collage; técnica mixta.

¿Cuál creéis que es la cosa más importante que debéis de tener en cuenta a la hora de comenzar una ilustración?
Si se trata de un cliente intentamos adaptarnos lo máximo posible al “brief”, siempre llevándolo a nuestro terreno.

En vuestro proceso de trabajo, ¿dejáis que las imágenes surjan por sí solas o las visualizáis previamente en la cabeza?
Cuando estamos juntos hablamos de un montón de tonterías y, entonces, el trabajo sale por sí sólo.

¿Cuál es vuestro material preferido para trabajar?
Papel.

¿Qué creéis que hace vuestro trabajo diferente?
Sólo hay unos Cést Moi Ce Soir.

¿A qué público tratáis de llegar con vuestro trabajo?
Realmente, no tenemos en cuenta el “público potencial”

¿Cuál es la mejor parte de ser artista? ¿Y la peor?
Mejor: tiempo. Peor: vivir con un presupuesto ajustado.

¿Cuál sería vuestro proyecto de diseño perfecto?
Eso significaría que no tendríamos que volver a hacer trabajos comerciales. En el caso de que esto no se lograse, nos iríamos por algo ético como diseñar ropa de invierno para gatos y caballos.

¿Qué os “pone” últimamente?
La música, los viajes, organizando cosas, exponiendo…
