Akinori Oishi. Born in Japan 1972. Studied Fine Arts at Kyoto City University of Art, and media-designs at IAMAS (Internatinal Academy of Media Arts and Sciences). Since winning the award of MILIA (International Multi-media Fair in France) 2001, working at the French creative design studio TEAMCHMAN (2001 - 2003). Now independent artist, and teaching media-designs at ECAL (Ecole Cantonale d'Art Lausanne) in Switzerland, and Tama University in Tokyo.

The interactive art game 'OPNIYAMA' is exhibited at the opening show of the comtemporary art musem 'Palais de Tokyo' in Paris (2001), the animation DVD for the swiss documentary film 'Mais im Bundeshuus' (2005), and invited the world character arts festival 'Pictoplasma Conference' in Berlin (2006)

H: How would you describe your style?
Basicly, I'm making a drawing Black & White. It is still monochrome or put few limited colors. The each elements inside the drawing are kinds of the patterns, then they're gathering together. I think the elements do not have a special meaning. It's like small people living in the geometric city.

Who and what inspires you? why?
Paul Klee (Swiss) and Hundertwasser (Austrian) I think the bothartist have the common sense, and I respect it. Actually the drawing lines are very beautiful and we can see a lot of unique small details in their artworks. Hundertwasser is a painter but also great architect, and my design dream is to build up my own artstic architecture like him.

Any artist that you would like to recommend?
I also have a big interests in cinemas. My recommendation is Yasujiro Ozu's films. They're classical Japanese film from 50 - 60's. My best favorite is "OHAYO" (Good Morning). It is shown in the old good days in Japan and especially I love to see many small humors in his screen.

'VERY FUN PARK' Huge artwork at the external wall of the building in Taipei/Taiwan, August 2007.
'TODAYSART FESTIVAL' Rodeo installation project at Den Haag/The Netherland, September 2007.
'JAPANESE MEETS INDONESIAN' Japanese contemporary art exhibition in Indonesia organized by Japan Foundation.

Akinori Oishi nació en Japón en 1972. Estudió Bellas Artes en la Universidad de Kyoto y ‘Media-Design’ en IAMAS (International Academy of Media Arts and Sciences) Ganó el premio MILIA (International Multi-Media Fair en France); trabajó entre 2001 – 2003 en el estudio de diseño creativo francés TEAMCHMAN. Actualmente trabaja como artista independiente y es profesor de ‘Media-Design’ en la ECAL (Ecole Cantonale d'Art Lausanne) en Suiza y en la Tama University de Tokyo.

El juego interactivo ‘OPNIYAMA’ se presenta coincidiendo con la inauguración del Museo de Arte Contemporáneo ‘Palais de Tokyo’ en Paris (2001); ha realizado el DVD de animación para el documental suizo ‘Mais im Bundeshuus’ (2005); ha sido invitado como ponente a la Conferencia sobre creación de personajes ‘Pictoplasma’ en Berlín (2006)

H: ¿Cómo describirías tu estilo?
Básicamente dibujo a blanco y negro. Es monocromo o con unos colores limitados. Cada uno de los elementos de los dibujos forma parte de un patrón, todos juntos. Quiero decir que un elemento por si sólo no tiene especial relevancia.

¿Quién y qué te inspira? ¿Por qué?
Paul Klee (Suiza) y Hundertwasser (Austria) Creo que ambos artistas tienen sentido común y son coherentes y por ello los respeto. Sus dibujos son muy bonitos y puedes ver muchísimos detalles en sus trabajos. Hundertwasser es un pintor pero también un gran arquitecto y uno de mis sueños es construir mi propia ‘arquitectura artística’ como él.

¿Algún artista que te gustaría recomendarnos?
Mi recomendación son las películas de Yasujiro Ozu. Son clásicos japoneses de los 50-60. Mi película favorita es ‘OHAYO’ (Buenos Días) Muestra los viejos y dorados días en Japón; me encanta ver tantos guiños cómicos en la pantalla.

‘TODAYSARTFESTIVAL’ Instalación para Den Haag/Holanda. Septiembre de 2007.
‘JAPANESE MEETS INDONESIAN’ Exposición sobre Arte Contemporáneo Japonés en Indonesia.
