Sauerkids is Mark Moget and Taco Sipma, an artist duo based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Besides their current day jobs as graphic designers, they started in May 2006 the label Sauerkids on the side as an outlet for their non-client based work. Their character based art has been shown in several exhibitions, art projects, magazines & books. They've been accused of "being on medication" or "sick (in a good way)", but in the end their work is probably best described as a combination of innocent childhood imagery and the mental confusion of everyday life.

H: How long have you been illustrating, how´d you get into it?
We've always been drawing, but as Sauerkids we're active for almost a year now. We both come from a background as graphic designers and wanted to do something fun and out of the box...

How would you define your style and approach to your work?
Ukelele beauty, raw meat and every shade of pink.

What are you working on at the moment?
The Yummy Jimmie Candy company, which is our new brand, selling candy.
The first Sauerkids record, A couple of exhibitions this year (Amsterdam, Melbourne, Sydney, Los Angeles, Montreal). Our regular artwork and our typeface library.

Sauerkids son Mark Moget y Taco Sipma, un dúo de artistas localizados en Rótterdam, Holanda. Además de sus respectivos trabajos como diseñadores gráficos, crearon en Mayo de 2006 la etiqueta Sauerkids como una manera de crear aparte de sus trabajos orientados a clientes. Sus diseños de personajes han sido exhibidos en numerosas exposiciones, proyectos, revistas y libros. Se les ha acusado de ‘estar bajo medicación’ o de ‘enfermos’ (en un buen sentido), pero al final la mejor manera en la que se puede describir su trabajo es como una combinación de imágenes inocentes de la niñez y la confusión mental de la vida diaria.

H: ¿Cuánto tiempo lleváis ilustrando y como empezasteis?
Siempre hemos dibujado, como Sauerkids llevamos casi un año ahora. Ambos tenemos ya una trayectoria dentro del diseño gráfico pero queríamos hacer algo divertido y diferente…

¿Cómo definirías vuestro estilo?
La belleza del Ukelele, la carne cruda y toda la gama de color rosa.
