H: Who is behind Tragic Magic Head?
There's a Squidboy, who's fake name is Shan Michael Evans.
There's a girl named Jennyfur Deveraux lurking behind there too...somewhere.

H: What inspires you?
The slightest thing. A song. A thought.
People moving through time and space and all they hold inside.
Ideas of love and enlightenment.
Circles and lines.

H: What were your favorite toys when you were kid?
Every single toy I saw. They were some kind of "magic" to me.
I loved Star Wars so very much...I believe in the Force.
Transformers blew my mind.

H: How long have you been illustrating, how’d you get into it?
I've been drawing since age two, perhaps earlier... and I never really stopped.
Cartoons must have been the reason. I've always took illustrating rather seriously and so not serious.
It's what I've chosen to do down here.

H: Would you say a lot of your work reflects boyhood dreams/childhood fantasy?
I would say that...yet carried over into this ideal of adulthood and using the time making those dreams and fantasy reality in some tangible way. Dreams and fantasy would be only your soul and I get a laugh out of expressing me in this way. Communication

H: Do you get images in your head or do you let the work sort of find its' way by itself?
It's become a bit of both lately...where as a couple years ago it always just found a way by itself it did seemed.
I think those things that did show themselves I use now in situations I think about in my head-thing.

H: Is there a dark side to your work? Where’s come from?
I think there's more a sadness as a result of temperance...but hopefully only truth.
I do have things to understand.

H: We also love Donnie Darko film, in what way this movie has inspired your work?
I wouldn't say it has had any direct influence.
I did do a piece of Frank the Rabbit.
The best bit in Donnie Darko is the scene when they wave at the end.
I use to just be obsessed with bunnies in my art.
The movie Harvey is where it's at.

H: What music forms the soundtrack of your life?
The song "Everyone Wants To Live Forever" by the Flaming Lips...turned up very loud.

H: What audience are you trying to reach with your art?
Anyone and everyone that enjoys it.
It somewhere becomes a mutual reaching.
It's like hugging.

H: What do you believe makes your work different?
I wouldn't know...but everyone is different...so we're kind of all the same on that level then.
Maybe because I don't know how the things I can?

H: The future for Tragic Magic Head consists of...
The substance of thing unseen and the things hoped for.

H: ¿Quién está detrás de Tragic Magic Head?
Está el ‘Chico Calamar’, cuyo nombre falso es Shan Michael Evans y una chica que se llama Jennyfur Deveraux acechando por ahí…en algún sitio.

H: ¿Qué os inspira?
Las cosas más tontas, una canción, un pensamiento.
La gente moviéndose a través del espacio y el tiempo y todo lo que contiene.
Las ideas acerca del amor y la tolerancia.
Círculos y líneas.

H: ¿Cuales eran los juguetes preferidos de tu infancia?
Cualquier juguete que veía. Ellos despertaban algún tipo de ‘magia’ sobre mí.
Me encantaba ‘Star Wars’ … Yo creía en la Fuerza.
Los ‘Transformers’ me volvían loco.

H: ¿Cuánto tiempo llevas dedicándote a la Ilustración y cómo empezasteis?
Llevo dibujando desde los dos años, incluso antes… Realmente, nunca he parado.
Creo que los dibujos animados debieron ser la razón por la que empecé a dibujar.
Siempre me he tomado la Ilustración de una manera más o menos seria. Es lo que he decidido hacer aquí abajo.

H: En cierto modo, ¿dirías que tu trabajo refleja en cierta manera sus sueños/fantasías de niño?
En cierta manera…he tratado de mantener estos ideales de adulto y he buscado la manera de hacer estos sueños tangibles de algún modo.
El alma debería ser sólo sueños y fantasías. Me lo paso bien pensando de esta manera.
Comunicación.

H: En tu trabajo, ¿recoges las ideas que tienes en tu cabeza o simplemente te dejas llevar?
Últimamente de ambas maneras… hace un par de años probablemente me dejaba llevar más.
Pienso que las cosas que aparecían por si mismas ahora las uso en situaciones que doy vueltas en mi cabeza.

H: ¿Hay alguna parte siniestra en tu trabajo? ¿De dónde viene?
Creo que tiene más de tristeza.
Todavía tengo cosas que comprender.

H : También nos gusta mucho Donnie Darko, ¿de qué manera ha influenciado esta película tu obra?
No puedo decir que tenga ninguna influencia directa.
Yo he hecho una trabajo sobre Frank the Rabbit.
La mejor parte de Donnie Darko es la escena del final donde se despiden.
En mi trabajo, estoy un poco obsesionado con los conejos.
La película de Harvey.

H: ¿Qué música forma la banda sonora de vuestra vida?
La canción ‘Everyone Wants To Live Forever’ de los Flaming Lips.. a un volumen muy alto

H: ¿A qué público tratáis de llegar con vuestro trabajo?
Todo el mundo al que le guste.
De algún modo es algo mutuo.
Es como un abrazo.

H: ¿Qué crees que hace vuestro arte diferente?
Pues no lo sabemos… pero cada uno somos diferentes… y de esta manera todos somos más o menos parecidos.

H: El futuro de Tragic Magic Head consiste en …
La esencia de las cosas que no vemos y las que esperamos.
